NOTCHNOI PROSPEKT - DEMOCRACY AND DISCIPLINE

Notchnoi Prospekt - Democracy and Discipline"Democracy and Discipline" is a reissue of the Notchnoi Prospekt album, originally self-released on cassette in 1987. Notchnoi Prospekt was formed in 1985 by Alexei Borisov and Ivan Sokolovsky, both of whom came from an academic field. The band worked in a wide range of styles - from dance synth-pop to post-punk and industrial, becoming one of the most advanced projects of the Soviet underground. In 1987 the band was joined by drummer Sergei Pavlov and by violinist, keyboardist and vocalist Dmitry Kutergin. From that moment Notchnoi Prospekt completely immersed themselves in industrial electronics combined with psychedelia, noise, free improvisation and absurdism. At first, the audience reacted coldly to such experimental music, preferring earlier material of the mid-80s. However, by the end of the decade the situation changed, which allowed the band to tour and perform at various rock and art festivals throughout the USSR, and even to go abroad. In 1989 Sokolovsky left the band, taking up a solo career. For several years Notchnoi Prospekt performed and recorded with bassist and keyboardist Alexei Soloviev and guitarist Steve Lothian. Later, in the mid-90s, it became a purely laboratory project, in which various musicians experimented with Alexei Borisov. In 2000 Borisov, Sokolovsky and Kutergin renewed the band as a trio, which was periodically joined by Sergei Pavlov, as well as saxophonist Sergei Letov and guitarist Petr Sokolovsky. The band performed concerts and reissued old material, but in May 2005 Ivan Sokolovsky suddenly passed away. Despite the terrible loss the band continued to actively perform and periodically record albums. After a long break, in 2017, the label Frozen Light released the new album "Polyurythane" - the first Notchnoi Prospekt studio album since 1993, the style of which is balanced between new wave, industrial and art-core. In 2019 the Moscow label Gost Zvuk reissued the 1987 instrumental work "Health Resorts Of The Caucasus" as a double vinyl album. And now, in 2020, the time has come for "Democracy and Discipline"... The album "Democracy and Discipline" was recorded and mixed by Alexei Borisov and Ivan Sokolovsky in 1987 in Moscow at the mobile studio of underground producer and sound engineer Igor Vasiliev. The CD reissue is supplemented with two bonus tracks recorded live during the Notchnoi Prospekt anniversary concert at the Rus' club (Secession), 30.01.2004, Vienna, Austria.

Yat-Kha - We Will Never DieThe eighth studio album of the Tuvan band Yat-Kha, which focuses on the voice of the charismatic leader of the group Albert Kuvezin, is accompanied by his long-time friend and colleague Sholban Mongush. CISFINITUM. MONOCHROME - Zhelezobeton / Aquarellist / KultFront, 2019
Cisfinitum - MonochromeThe album is dedicated to Dmitry Vasilyev, a musical educator, publisher, and ascetic. Initially, composer Evgeny Voronovsky conceived "Monochrome" as a futuristic mass of "high resolution" - an alchemical fusion of angelic chorales and dub-techno pulsations. The news of Vasilyev's tragic death caught the author of the recording rendering the final mix, redefining the meaning and purpose of the work that lasted for a whole year. "Monochrome" became a funeral service for a close friend, a man whose role for independent electronic music in Russia cannot be overestimated. >>

OLE LUKKOYE. DYATLY - Trail Records (US), 2015
Ole Lukkoye - DyatlyIn April 2015, the St. Petersburg band Ole Lukkoye released a new album "Dyatly", published by the American label Trail Records. The album was recorded for two years at different Russian studios. After the material was recorded, the musicians came up with the idea to leave everything as it is and, as far as possible, avoid revision. As a result, only some vocal parts and percussion were recorded before the final mixing. The tracklist of the album consists of five tracks, and the transitions between them are made so smoothly that it seems as if you are listening to one endless song. >>

MACHINEFABRIEK. DUBBELTJES - Zoharum (Poland), 2014
Machinefabriek - DubbeltjesMachinefabriek's music combines elements of drone ambient, glitch, field recordings, minimalism and post-classical avant-garde. This territory is successfully exploited by artists such as Fennesz, Tim Hecker, Oren Ambarchi and Stars Of The Lid. Unlike industrial music, Machinefabriek's improvisations are always very friendly, warm, and conducive to a leisurely exploration of a strange, surreal world. The new album is a compilation of 12 rare tracks released on low-volume 7-inch, cassettes and CD-R in the period from 2008 to 2013. >>

COLLOQUIO. L'ENTRATA - L'USCITA - Eibon Records (Italy), 2013
Colloquio – L'Entrata - L'UscitaGianni Pedretti, a resident of Bologna, organized Colloquio in the early 90s with the intention of exploring musical territories where advanced electronics intersect with the Italian song tradition. The new album continues to expand the sound horizons. In it, melancholic Italian ballads performed by Pedretti are successfully combined with cold minimalistic post-digital arrangements. Several guest musicians took part in the recording of the album, performing the parts of saxophone, flute, double bass and drums. >>
